The Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) is an annual event hosted by member countries of the Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS). AARS aims to promote remote sensing technology through the exchange of information, mutual cooperation, international understanding and goodwill amongst the members. The idea of organising a remote sensing conference in Asia, by Asian and for Asian was first raised and agreed upon in a gathering attended by Asian scientists in San Jose, Costa Rica in April 1980 during the 14th International Symposium on Remote Sensing of Environment (ERIM Symposium). The first ACRS was held in Bangkok, Thailand from 5 to 7 November 1980.
The 39th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2018) from 15 to 19 October 2018 will be the fourth time for Malaysia to host the event after successfully organised in 1989, 1997 and 2007. ACRS 2018 will held at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel.
The conference will be a platform for participants from government, industries and academia to meet and deliberate on the latest advancement in remote sensing and related technologies. It also provides opportunities for exhibitors to introduce their latest remote sensing products, processes and state-of-the-art technologies.

On behalf of the local organizing committee, we would like to invite you to the 39th Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS 2018) which will take place at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel, Malaysia from October 15 to 19, 2018.
We would like to thank Asian Association on Remote Sensing (AARS) and member countries, for entrusting Malaysian Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA) of the Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment & Climate Change (MESTECC), the national focal point to organise this conference for the fourth time. The previous conferences hosted by Malaysia were in the year of 1989, 1997 and 2007.
ACRS 2018 is expected to gather over 500 participants from developed and developing countries from and around Asia. The conference aims to promote and facilitate Remote Sensing and related geospatial technological advancement. In addition, this conference will provide good opportunities for innovative knowledge exchange and collaboration among the member countries. The theme for ACRS 2018 is “Remote Sensing Enabling Prosperity”.
The five-day conference will consist of plenary, technical and poster sessions, panel discussions, students session, AARS General Conferences, commercial exhibition, cultural evening and visit/sight-seeing.
We would like to encourage you to participate in this ACRS 2018, one of Asia’s largest remote sensing conference. We look forward to welcoming you in Kuala Lumpur in October 2018.
